My recording would not load on WordPress, so it is only on GauchoSpace.

For my project, I created a short melody on the piano and then improvised off of the melody for a little over three minutes. I then played the recording to three of my friends– all separately–and asked each of them what emotions the recording evoked. Sierra described the recording as nostalgic and very emotional while Chris described it as dramatic, exciting, and powerful. Sophia thought that the recording brought out the essence of spring and she heard flowers opening and water dropping as she listened. The point of doing this was to show that music is its own type of voice. During Week 1, we studied the idea that voice means something different and unique to each listener. After listening to each of my friends’ ideas, I can easily say that this transaction between speaker and listener is very apparent through music, too.
